A few weeks ago on November 8, 2013, I posted some thoughts on sharing your work online. Here is a link to that article. I said then that I would follow up on some of the services. Today, I would like to talk about the benefits of posting to Flickr. Flickr is one of the older and largest photo sharing/gallery sites in the world. Flickr is owned by Yahoo and they recently made some interesting changes. First of all its free. It now offers 1TB (terabyte) worth of storage. The photo communities there are very well established. It is a photo sharing site I use (not very often as of late). It is a site that our photo club (Hampton Roads Digital Photography Club) will hopefully be using more. So why should you post on Flickr?

You should know that I am a strong advocate of sharing your photos online. When I started as a photographer in the 70's there were not many outlets for you to share your work. Today, the internet has made it possible for hundreds of people to view your work. It still takes time and hard work but it can be done. The other benefit is you also get to view the work of hundreds of photos and photographers. If you want to improve part of the process has to be viewing the work of others and sharing your work. The more you do that the better your work will get.
